In August 2010 Wissol Group acquired legendary football club Torpedo Kutaisi. For the first time, the team’s new owner gave the historical name back to the club and plans to invest 2 million GEL annually for its development.

“Kutaisi Torpedo is really a grand footprint of our history and Wissol will take all the necessary steps to make it Georgian football’s dream team. We are going to develop the club in four main directions. Our first steps will be providing it with the needed infrastructure, equipping it with a contemporary training base. And secondly we are going to strengthen the team itself by experienced players from the supreme league. The third direction deals with increasing the number of fans and we believe in the support of residents of Kutaisi in this regard. As of a fourth step we are going to improve the infrastructure for children and we are certain that in this newly built sport complex many prominent footballers will be trained,” declared Levan Pkhakadze, Head of the Supervisory Board of Wissol and the Kutaisi Torpedo President.
