Two postponed matches of the third tournament of the 23rd Georgian National Champion’s League took place on September 21.
The competition of the most honorable teams of the country has always been of great interest to the Georgian fans. It is no surprise that there is still the same attitude in the society towards the confrontation of Kutaisi and Tbilisi nowadays.
The last victory of “Torpedo” over “Dinamo” was at the last tournament of previous season while the visit of the first (2:1), at their home arena though Kutaisians celebrated the victory over the players from the capital on March 14, 2003. It was Davit Gamezardashvili, still a player of Torpedo Kutaisi, who kicked twice and scored two crucial goals thereby “hurting” Dinamo in the last minutes of the match.
48th “Georgian classics” in its turn started with a fast speed and continued with a “battle” of the players…
The passionate shouting and exclamations of the fan clubs - the “Tornado” of Kutaisi and the “Gladiators” of Tbilisi accompanied the match till its very end.
6’ – Guruli made a swing pass to the left to Bolkvadze, Davit reached the penalty area leaving two players of Dinamo behind, Megreladze made a way to Grigol Dolidze, the 22nd of “Torpedo” kicked without stopping and sent the ball to the left corner from Loria thereby scoring a goal and making the audience at the stadium delightful 1:0.
10’ – Datunaishvili who was in the center noticed Dolidze standing at the offside line, the forwarder of the hosting team found a better follower however and passed the ball to Giorgi Megreladze, who kicked the ball diligently into the goal and made the score firmer and convincing 2:0.
17’ – Megreladze took the ball into the penalty area with the passing of Guruli, but couldn’t make it to the goal and the ball was overthrown the head of Loria.
The visitors were trying to decrease the difference in score and made some dangerous attacks, authors of which were Koshkadze and Koto, but all in vain.
41’ – Albert Yague got a nice pass in the penalty area of Torpedo, the Spaniard passed Migineishvili and moved a little forward kicking it as directly as possible 2:1
During the second half of the match “Dinamo” was in control of the ball more than the hosts, but at times Migineishvili showed his worth and sometimes the defenders of Kutaisi were good as well.
48’ – With the active play of Gigusha the ball got to Megreladze, the ball passed the goal from the right when Gia kicked.
Koshkadze sent the ball to the goal from the standard line, where goalkeeper Migineishvili met him and threw the ball to the corner.
82’ – Gotsiridze went into the penalty area of the players of Tbilisi from the acute angle, the kicked ball from the side of the forward passed the goal.
“The Greens” played with dignity during the last added four minutes and served the historical victory.

The 23rd Georgian National Champion’s Major League matches of the 4th round were held on the 27th of August. Kutaisi’s “Torpedo” visited “Martvili” and played with their football club “Merani”.
All of the most recent 5 meetings of “Torpedo” and “Merani” ended with the victory of “Kutaisi”, Imeretians defeated Martvilians twice in the first league (2:0, 3:1) and won three friendly matches (3:0, 2:1, 1:0). What concerns the first meeting of the teams in the major league it runs as follows…
Today’s match was held in an obstinate confrontation and the gathered supporters of about 2000 people (among those Kutaisians as well) watched an interesting game.
8’ – A standard kick of Megreladze was caught by the goalkeeper Sherozia in the air.
18’ – Chikviladze followed the corner kick and overreached the opponent’s goal.
38’ – a hosting legionary of Cote d’Ivore - Tape Munin could have scored, when he was trying to find a better position in the defense area of Migineishvili from the right side with a slow shoot, but he shot slowly and beyond the goal. The first half ended without any score.
48’ – Sabanadze stopped the ball that was kicked into Dolidze’s penalty area, shot it from the second attempt and made it inaccurate.
61’ – The defender of Martvili fell in the penalty area of Torpedo and referee Vadachkoria awarded a penalty kick. The penalty kick was performed by the captain of “Merani” team Giga Zhvania and the idea he had was understood by Migineishvili, the defender of the guests met the ball shot at the left corner by the goalkeeper with his hands and saved the goal, for just 5 minutes however.
66’ – the hosts began a counterattack from the right side, Merani football players while being three to one with the defender, passed the ball to Elguja Grigalashvili, who was on the left offside line and Migineishvili couldn’t change the direction of the shot goal 1:0.
Torpedo tried to change the match; the closest players to the goal were Megreladze and Parulava by the last minutes of the match…
88’ – from the penalty kick right in front of the goal Megreladze shot the ball to the goal and the goalkeeper reacted to the shot the last minute with one move of his hand and obviously saved his team from the goal.
90’ – after the shot to the opponent’s penalty area from a close distance on the left side Parulava kicked the ball hit by the goalkeeper and the hosts were relieved.
In the end the main member of the match remaining at the pitch “proved himself a good player”, and referee Vadachkoria sent Davit Bolkvadze off the pitch due to his insulting words and soon blew his whistle meaning the end. 1:0 in favor of “Merani”.
